The Girls’ Education and Empowerment Project (PAAF) concluded on Saturday, November 16, a training workshop for chief pool inspectors and deputy provincial inspectors responsible for training on the creation of neighborhood school networks. The workshop, which began on Thursday, November 14, at the Nganda Center in Kinshasa, brought together representatives from three administrative provinces of the DRC: Central Kongo, Kinshasa, and Kwilu. Ms. Rose Leta Gozalet, a specialist in professional development at PAAF, emphasized in her remarks the importance of improving the quality of education through ongoing professional development for teachers in community school networks. According to her, ongoing professional development is a key strategy for improving the quality of education.
"Sharing knowledge and experience within local school networks promotes the quality of education," she said.
For the Deputy Inspector General of EDU-NC, Mr. Honoré Mbokumu, this training comes at just the right time.
"It was important to bring these inspectors together to achieve the objectives of the PAAF project in the targeted provinces," he said.
It should be noted that the PAAF project aims to empower girls. Thus, in addition to the scholarships it offers to girls, it also works to increase the number of female teaching staff in education through the recruitment of female teachers. Furthermore, this project supports the government’s efforts, particularly through PDL-145T, and will provide thousands of students in these provinces with access to new school infrastructure, versatile “Smart Labs,” and classrooms equipped with advanced digital technologies. Improving the quality of education is the second pillar of the sectoral strategy for education and training. The Minister of State, Minister of EDU-NC, Ms. Raisa Malu, has made this her top priority.
