A child’s educational journey is not limited to the skills acquired at school. Parental involvement plays a crucial role in their children’s academic success. This statement comes from Mr. Charly Muzadi, Senior Advisor for Academic and Psychopedagogical Guidance, who was interviewed by the editorial team of the Communications Management Directorate at the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (EDU-NC). He encourages parents to always motivate their children to take an interest in their schoolwork starting at home. According to him, families, as the primary agents of education, can help reinforce the importance of school, assist children with their homework, and guide extracurricular activities—all of which are essential for student success. “Academic failure is a major problem that often stems from parental neglect and repeated absences from school. He also emphasizes that other factors such as distraction, behavioral issues, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, and poor time management contribute to this phenomenon,” he noted. To combat academic failure, this psychologist proposes several solutions, including strengthening family support and investing in early childhood and elementary education. “It is also important to promote student motivation and engagement, adapt teaching practices to make them inclusive, and implement academic support programs tailored to students’ needs,” continued school guidance counselor Charly Muzadi. He added, “Academic failure should not be considered inevitable. If difficulties are detected and addressed quickly, they do not necessarily have to have long-term negative consequences. This requires raising awareness among families and students about the issues related to academic success.” Furthermore, he noted that parental involvement and monitoring of their children’s education are crucial to their success. By working together, parents, teachers, and students can create an environment conducive to learning and the personal development of young people. Pala Marie-France
