The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Implementation Unit for Funding for Fragile States (CEFF) have delivered seven (7) new public elementary schools as part of the Local Development Program for 145 Territories (PDL 145 T). These facilities are located in the provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu, South Ubangi, and Central Kongo. The territories of Libenge and Mobayi-Mbongo each received two schools. The territories of Kungu and Muanda share the remaining schools. The UNDP also notes that 32 schools are currently in the final stages of construction and will soon be delivered. These facilities are in addition to the 1,048 schools already built since the implementation of free official public primary education by Head of State Felix Antoinne Tshisekedi. This progress demonstrates the determination and effectiveness of the government’s efforts to achieve the objectives of the PDL-145T, emphasizing education as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development in rural areas.
