The Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (MINEDU-NC) is launching a comprehensive training program in educational leadership. This ambitious program aims to strengthen the skills of more than 6,000 public elementary school principals. The initiative, led by the National Primary Teacher Training Service (SERNAFOR Primaire), is part of the Project to Improve the Quality of Primary Education (PEQIP). It targets 12 educational provinces spread across four administrative provinces, specifically in the provinces of Ituri, Kasai, Kasai Central, and Kasai Oriental. The training will be delivered through a cascade model. Initially, 24 national trainers will train nearly 250 provincial supervisors (inspectors and educational advisors). These supervisors will then provide training to primary school principals in their respective sub-districts. The program includes separate training sessions for school principals in urban areas (1,294) and rural areas (4,743). This approach aims to adapt the content to the specific realities of each environment. A total of 121 training sites have been selected to ensure optimal coverage of the territory. The deployment of trainers began on June 9, 2025, in Tshikapa in the province of Kasaï 1. The other educational provinces will follow gradually, with training and supervision missions lasting 14 to 15 days. It is important to note that this major initiative by MINEDU-NC marks a significant step toward improving the quality of education throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Célestin Zeula
