It’s official. Raïssa Malu succeeds Tony Mwaba as head of the Ministry of EPST, now renamed the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship. The handover ceremony took place on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

“We thank everyone who contributed to consolidating free education. This has been appreciated not only by the Head of State, but also by the entire education system. Significant efforts have truly been made to improve conditions and ensure that this important reform is implemented,” she stated before continuing: “Now, of course, we will build on the achievements of the previous administration. You have all seen and heard the Government’s program. So, we will set to work implementing the actions outlined in this program and also following through on the reforms outlined in the Sectoral Strategy for Education and Training (SSEF). This seems very important to us.”

The new head of the Ministry of National Education expressed her delight at working alongside her deputy minister and all the managers and staff of the Ministry’s administration.

“For us, this is still home. We are very happy to collaborate with each of you wherever you are to realize this new vision of the Government, to achieve a high-quality education system. And we will be able to work toward responsible and ethical citizenship,” emphasized the head of the Ministry of National Education.

Raïssa Malu also highlighted five guiding principles that will shape her actions, namely: dialogue with stakeholders, strengthening the administration, investing in teacher training and professional development, promoting equity and inclusion, and integrating information and communication technologies.
