In conjunction with World Teachers’ Day, celebrated every October 5, the Kasa-Vubu Subdivision of National Education and New Citizenship organized a conference and discussion on Saturday, October 4, bringing together school principals, parent representatives, teachers, and other partners in the education sector. Under the theme “The Role of Kasa-Vubu Teachers in Transforming Schools in Terms of Governance, Quality, and Citizenship,” this meeting served as a forum for discussion and reflection on the individual and collective responsibility of educational stakeholders in transforming the school system. In his remarks, Deputy Superintendent Jude N’kaka emphasized that this transformation inevitably requires teachers to recognize their central role in improving the quality of education, school management, and the civic education of students.
“Teachers are pillars of human development. I call on teachers to be mindful of their profession and to support the authorities in adhering to guidelines,” he stated.
For one of the participants, teachers, in their capacity as educators, must also instill values in students’ minds in order to transform them. The event featured artistic performances—skits, poems, and dances—as well as constructive discussions on the challenges and prospects of the teaching profession in the Congolese context. This activity is part of the first guiding principle of the Ministry’s five-year plan: dialogue with stakeholders, considered the foundation of all planned actions. This ongoing dialogue aims to ensure that decisions are representative, legitimate, and supported by all stakeholders, while facilitating buy-in for reforms and their successful implementation at all levels of the education system.
